About the Author

Born in Bermuda in the 1950s Thomas MacDonald the oldest of four children wasted little time escaping his humble beginnings.  Once he finished high school, he set about to take advantage of every opportunity that came his way.  In Bermuda he worked in TV and radio, banking and re-insurance. In the 80s he emigrated to the United States, met his life partner and found successes in retail, tourism and hospitality.  From the time he received his first Polaroid ‘Swinger’ camera as a teen he has photographed and journaled his travels for business and pleasure which resulted in a wealth of anecdotes and memories. After his retirement at the end of 2016, he felt inspired to share his journey by writing this autobiography with the hope of encouraging young people who may have also had a humble or hopeless start in life to continue to strive for a more secure and fulfilling future.
